BAK Revolver X4s hard roll-up tonneau cover review

The BAK Revolver X4s is the hard roll-up cover we install most when a truck owner wants real security and full bed access from one cover. It pairs heavy-duty aluminum slats with a marine-grade vinyl skin, locks along the whole bed, and rolls up tight when you need the bed open.

Construction

The X4s is built from heavy-duty aluminum slats wrapped in marine-grade vinyl, which makes the cover both cut-resistant and weatherproof. Everything on it is matte black, including the slats, clamps, rails, and hardware, so it sits flush with the modern murdered-out look most trucks wear now. Whether the bed is carrying tools, camping gear, or a load from the hardware store, the cover stands between your cargo and both the weather and anyone eyeing it.

Locking and security

BAK’s patented rotational locking rails fasten the X4s along the entire length of the bed rather than only at the tailgate. With the tailgate closed, there is no access to the bed at all. That full-length engagement is the real difference between this cover and cheaper roll-ups that only latch at the back.

Weather sealing

A full-perimeter seal, an integrated bulkhead seal, and flat side rail seals keep rain, snow, and dust out of the bed. In our experience that matters more here than in most places: a cover that sheds a spring snow load and keeps mag chloride spray off your gear earns its price in one season.

Bed access and capacity

The roll-up design gives you the full bed when you need it. The cover rolls up tight behind the cab and secures in the open position with integrated buckles, so you can haul tall or bulky loads without removing anything. Closed, the cover is rated to carry 400 pounds evenly distributed, and BAK backs it with a 5-year warranty.

Installation

Installation is clamp-on with no drilling, so nothing about your truck is modified. It is a job a patient owner can do at home; we fit them regularly and a professional install makes sure the rails sit square and the seals actually seal.

Our take

For an owner who wants one cover that locks down the bed, survives Colorado weather, and still gives full bed access, the X4s is the one we point to first. Softer roll-ups cost less and retractables look sleeker, but the X4s hits the middle of security, durability, and price better than anything else we install. We order and fit them at our Arvada shop for truck owners across Golden, Boulder, Westminster, and Wheat Ridge; see our truck accessories page or request a quote for your truck.
